AFED INAUGURATES OYO STATE CHAPTER
Rev. Onasanya, the Oyo state Controller, noted that the people of Oyo state will enjoy quality education at an affordable fee.
The Association for Formidable Education Development (AFED) has been praised for providing formidable and quality education for students in Oyo state. The governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde made this known yesterday during the inauguration of the Oyo state chapter of the association in Ibadan. The governor who was represented by Engr. Ademola Aderinto, special Assistant to the governor on Environment lauded the contributions of AFED during the inauguration of the Oyo state AFED chapter. He described the contributions of AFED to quality education as commendable urging them to collaborate with the government in order to realize the goals and objectives of the association.
Also speaking at the inauguration, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education in Oyo state represented by Dr. Mrs. Okediji, a Zonal Inspector described education as the bedrock of the society. According to the permanent secretary, the present administration in Oyo state is making tremendous efforts towards making education available for all children. She emphasized that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde is providing children with books and other educational materials across the state. She, however, said the government will collaborate with AFED in order to make quality education available for all children in Oyo state.
In his address, the National President of AFED, Hon Orji Kalu called on the executives of AFED in Oyo to uphold the vision of the association and to also ensure that they operate within the framework of the AFED constitution. Speaking further, Hon Orji Kalu said the mission of the organization was to provide quality education for children who cannot afford expensive schools. He said AFED fee is ridiculously low and that there is also provision for scholarship for the underprivileged. He also pointed out that the organization was already bridging the gap between those who have and those who don’t have money to go to expensive schools.
Also speaking at the event, Rev. Onasanya, the chairman of the Oyo state AFED chapter, noted that the people of Oyo state will enjoy quality education at an affordable fee. According to him, other stakeholders in the private academic sector should not feel threatened by the role of AFED saying that the organization was created to provide quality education for the underprivileged at a ridiculously low fee. He called on parents in Oyo state to expect affordable education for all the students across the state come 2021. He also noted that AFED is interested in the education of every child and that the association will do everything to make quality education affordable for all children.
According to Rev. Onasanya, AFED want a society totally free from illiteracy and ignorance. The chairman said those who are in the school business should not feel threatened by AFED. Those who can afford the expensive schools should go there while those who cannot afford to go there should be able to access other less expensive schools. According to him, the society that cannot educate the citizens is the society that has opened the door for criminality and corruption, he said.
